Liturgical Hints & Ideas:
The Mystical Body ... the Communion of Saints ... Life Everlasting ... the Mystery of Heaven ... all these themes demand the utmost in solemnity and awe.
Today is the day for incense, for Latin, for chant, for the pageantry of the sanctified.
Try using the Litany of the Saints (quite beautiful in Latin), in its abbreviated form as found in the Easter Vigil liturgy, for the Opening Song.
Three cantors, alternating on the invocations, lends interest to the timber of the singing.
Don't drag the tempo (don't rush, either).
With three cantors, one can easily follow the "S" rule: Hold the last note of the congregations' response ("Pray for us" or "Ora pro nobis") two or three times longer than the eighth note beats of the chant.
Overlap the "S" sound when beginning the next invocation [i.e. the cantor begins "Saint ..." or "Sancte ..." as soon as the congregation closes the "S" of their response.
This sets a very rhythmic pulse and keeps the litany flowing consistently.
