Liturgical Hints & Ideas

Ordinary Time begins on the Monday following the Baptism of the Lord (which takes the place of the First Sunday in Ordinary Time). This Sunday, the Second Sunday in Ordinary Time, recalls the miracle of the Wedding at Cana. Originally, the Epiphany celebration encompassed three manifestations:

  1. Christ revealed to the Gentiles via the Magi
  2. Christ baptized and revealed as the Son of God
  3. the miracle of water made wine and the public revelation of Christ's divine power.
A common musical element on these three Sundays might point this out… perhaps the same Entrance Hymn, or setting of the Gloria, or Communion Hymn.
