Liturgical Hints & Ideas

The Gospel contains Christ's command to Peter to "Feed my sheep." Bring out the Eucharistic theme through hymns and motets. Throughout the Easter Season (from the Easter Vigil right through Pentecost) the Sprinkling Rite is the perfect way to open the liturgy. It recalls our baptism (use water from the font) and delineates this season, which otherwise has a great danger of being forgotten by the fourth or fifth Sunday. Use the proper chant Vidi aquam [Liber usualis, p.12] — or — [Booklet of Chant, Volume 3], or I Saw Water Flowing, a brilliant English adaptation by Alex Hill which maintains the chant melody.
