Organ Music:
The organ is silent today.
Liturgical Hints & Ideas:
By no means should any organ be heard today... at all.
The experience of a parish worshiping in song, completely on their own, should outweigh any inclination to use accompanied music in this liturgy.
The a cappella symbol is so much more powerful than anything anyone has written.
The congregation will get a chance to hear themselves clearly, and will rely on each other to perpetuate the song.
Choose music carefully (all music does not lend itself to unaccompanied performance).
Chant and pentatonic hymns are particularly suited for today's liturgical mood.
Reinforce the idea of the Triduum as "one celebration spanning three days" by using no prelude or postlude music, and by entering and departing the liturgy (ministers included) in absolute silence.
Today, with no Mass allowed to be celebrated, should be different than every other day.
