Description
Dr. J. William Greene, Organist-Choirmaster at Sacred Heart Cathedral in
Rochester NY, has taken themes from the beautifully plaintive Lenten hymn,
Wondrous Love, and constructed an outstanding Mass setting for use during
Lent. Included are "Lord, Have Mercy," "Holy, Holy, Holy Lord," four
Memorial Acclamations, "Great Amen" and "Lamb of God." The work is
published for cantor, SATB choir, soprano descant, congregation and organ,
but can work equally well, once learned, with just congregation and organ.
The skillful writing for voices and organ will make "Wondrous Love: A Mass for Lent" not
only a popular addition to the people's repertoire of Masses, but also one
which will not grow weak from repetition during future Lenten seasons.
